A Decade of Delicious History

From a humble beginning to a Boise institution — here's how Cafe Rio grew into the restaurant people know and love today.

2013

The Beginning

Cafe Rio opens its first location on W Franklin Rd, Boise, Idaho. With a handful of recipes and a whole lot of heart, we served our first guest fresh Mexican food made entirely from scratch.

2015

Catering Expansion

Responding to overwhelming demand from local businesses and event planners, we launched our full-service catering program — bringing fresh Cafe Rio flavors to offices, weddings, and celebrations across the Treasure Valley.

2017

Community Recognition

Cafe Rio was named Boise's Best Mexican Restaurant by local food critics. We celebrated by donating meals to over 500 local families — our way of saying thank you to the community that made us who we are.

2019

Online Ordering Launch

We introduced our digital ordering platform, making it easier than ever for guests to enjoy Cafe Rio at home. Fresh food, your way, delivered to your door or ready for quick pickup.

2021

Menu Innovation

We revamped our menu with over 30 new items, including expanded vegetarian and vegan options, seasonal specialties, and new signature sauces — all developed in partnership with our culinary team and loyal guests.
